A fairy cake for the Fairy Hill

A midsummer evening on my local hill, Schiehallion. We turned away from the summit, leaving a cake as an offering to the resident fairies, and as we began the descent, cloud drifted in to wrap the mountain and we projected onto it a huge brockenspectre of ourselves and the spiky summit. (Thanks to Elspeth for the photo of it).

Wow! I haven't seen a brockenspectre for ages. This one is quite something and somehow it seems rather extra special with the timing of your walk. Wonderful photo!

small world! So, we've met near the top of Schiehallion where you mentioned leaving the cake to us. You commented on a post on my blog recently (shoebox).

I bivvied on the summit that night with my partner and we photographed your fairy cake at twilight! (we left it for the fairies though). We've been exchanging solstice experiences with R MacFarlane too. Small world indeed...!

Gosh, it is a small world! I remember meeting you on your way up. I loved that film you posted and passed it on to a few people resulting in another string of coincidences linking Scotland and Canada! Planning a midwinter foray up Schiehallion so will probably need to appease the fairies again...
